Quite a few patients that come in, they've been neglecting their teeth for quite a few years. They're broken down. Most of them have several things going – they have gum disease going, they've got a lot of cavities, they've got some missing teeth already, some teeth that are hopeless. What they say is, 'I want to get my teeth back in. I want to be able to chew. I want to be able to eat like I used to.' That's a process and it depends on your individual situation. Some of those cases we will go through and do crowns and bridges, others involve implants. It really depends on what your goals are, and we work on that together.

What is meant by full-mouth reconstruction?
One way to explain a full-mouth reconstruction is to think of an old Indian motorcycle, an iconic American-built motorcycle. They went out of business a long time ago, and their bikes have turned up in barns and garages across America. Each time one is found, it almost always needs to be completely restored. There are just too many things wrong with it for it to run properly. So, it often gets painted, the engine gets rebuilt, new tires are put on it, and it’s cleaned up. Then, you have a beautiful motorcycle that is ready to do what it was meant to do. A full-mouth reconstruction is like that. We take advantage of different restorative dentistry treatments to fix the many issues causing your mouth to not be able to do what it was meant to do.
What can dental implants do to help me?
A dental implant is able to give you the same look and stability of a real tooth. Implants are ideal for cases where you are missing one or more teeth from your smile. They will restore the look and function of the teeth you lost, and the unique way that the implant fuses with your jawbone will help to prevent bone loss. Without teeth in your jaw, your bone has a tendency to deteriorate. Dental implants fill the space left in your jaw to keep that from happening.
What is All-on-4?
Sometimes people need an entire arch of teeth replaced. Although you could have a single implant put in for each tooth you lost, that is a lot of surgery and a lot of implants. The All-on-4 method gives you an option to replace a whole row of teeth using only four dental implants. The four implants will attach to a bridge or denture that will hold the replacement teeth. This gives you the look of a full smile and the stability of dental implants, all with minimal surgery.
What are mini dental implants?
Mini dental implants are smaller in thickness than traditional dental implants. This means a less invasive placement procedure, which in turn means less healing time. These are ideal for work being done on the lower jaw. They are not recommended for the upper jaw at this time. Dr. Boyle will be able to explain further the true ins and outs of what mini dental implants can do for you.

Are dentures a good option?
Dentures may be a good solution depending on your situation. For some, a single tooth replacement or a bridge is more appropriate. Others may need dentures that are implant supported. Dr. Boyle will go over your specific problem, and together you’ll develop an appropriate treatment plan. Dr. Boyle wants you to have the best smile possible, and he will do all he can to make sure that happens.
