Finding a trustworthy dentist to treat you and your family is a big decision. Make sure that you are choosing a dentist who will be sure to take great care of you and your family. At Tab A. Boyle, DDS Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry, we pride ourselves on providing quality dental treatment for even our youngest patients. We are here for you and your family no matter what your situation may be.
How is family dentistry different from general dentistry?
Family dentistry indicates that the dentist will treat children as well as adults. The type of treatments offered by either a family or a general dentist will be just about the same, and many dentists use the designations interchangeably. You can get dental exams and cleanings, fluoride treatments, cancer screenings, and X-rays, as well as sealants and fluoride varnish. The child aspect is the only difference, and that is just because there are some types of care that a child will need that an adult doesn’t, and vice versa. Dr. Boyle and his staff know how to manage all ages, and we have welcomed young and old for nearly 30 years. With a family dentist like Dr. Boyle, your whole family will be in good hands.
Does Dr. Boyle treat children?
As a family dentist, Dr. Boyle does treat children. They are the next generation of patients for Tab A. Boyle, DDS, and we want to make sure that they are getting excellent dental care. Children are also going through early stages of dental development, and Dr. Boyle will make sure that everything is progressing the way it should. During these early years, it is also important to begin to instill correct dental habits that will help them keep their smiles healthy later in life.
When should I bring my child for their first dental appointment?
According to the American Dental Association, it is generally recommended that you bring your child in to see the dentist by about one year old. This way, you can help them participate in their checkup as needed. For other ages, we can give a thorough exam and, if they are comfortable with it, a cleaning as well. Dr. Boyle will do all that he can to make sure that your child has a happy first dental visit. We have toys in the office for them to play with. We also have televisions to give them something to focus on during their treatment.
How do I keep my child from having dental anxiety?
A happy first visit is very important in helping your child avoid the dental anxiety that affects so many people in this country. Bringing your child with you to one of your regular visits will help as well. They will get to see the office and meet the staff and Dr. Boyle. This will go a long way in building the necessary rapport that is needed when treating a young child.
