How Lumineers Compare With Other Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are one of the best services we offer.

Veneers are a fast and effective way to improve the appearance of your smile. They are one of the most versatile services in cosmetic dentistry, too.

But not all dental veneers are the same. At Dr. Tab A. Boyle’s office, we offer both Lumineers and porcelain veneers. Both are great, but one or the other may be a better option for you.

The team at our dentist office in Lancaster, CA, will be happy to answer any questions you have about veneers. We want you to have the information you need to make the right decision for you.

If you have been considering cosmetic dentistry, then you should at least take time to learn about veneers, including Lumineers. To do that, set up a consultation with Dr. Boyle by calling (661) 524-8457 or by requesting an appointment with our online form.

How Lumineers Are Like Other Veneers

In the introduction, we mentioned that versatility is one of the reasons that dental veneers are such a great service. To give you an idea what we mean, here are some of the issues you can fix with veneers:

◼ Chipped teeth

◼ Crooked teeth

◼ Crowded teeth

◼ Discolored teeth

◼ Gaps between teeth

◼ Short or small teeth

And maybe more importantly, veneers can be used to fix more than one of these issues at the same time. A veneer can be made for a single tooth, and a set of veneers can be designed to change your whole smile.

We’ve helped more patients than we can count with dental veneers. Many times, the biggest change isn’t to their smile; it’s that they are willing to smile again.

Often, a patient will come to us because he or she is embarrassed to smile for one or more reasons. This can affect their self-esteem. We’ve seen many times how dental veneers have given patients the confidence to share their smiles.

We have seen this happen with porcelain veneers, and we have seen it happen with Lumineers, too.

How Lumineers Are Different Than Other Veneers

To explain this, we need to get into the nitty gritty for a moment.

The e.max veneers we have at our dentist office in Lancaster, CA, are porcelain veneers. Porcelain has been used in dental treatments for a long time because it looks like natural teeth, and it is strong enough to for things we use our teeth to do on a daily basis.

With porcelain veneers, the first step is often removing a thin layer of enamel to prepare the teeth for veneers. This way the veneers won’t stick out when they are bonded in place.

At this point, an impression is made of your teeth so your veneers can be custom-made to fit your teeth and create the smile that you want to see.

When your veneers are ready, you will return to our office to have them bonded to your teeth. In a matter of a few weeks, you could have a completely different smile.

Lumineers are the thinnest veneers available today. The special ceramic can be made so thin that we often do not have to do anything to prepare your teeth. They can be bonded to your teeth without removing any enamel. This is welcome news for patients who have particularly sensitive teeth.

In spite of being thin, Lumineers are durable as well. You can feel confident eating the foods you enjoy. With proper care, Lumineers can last for 20 years.
